Social media has been spreading an incident that recently took place in Dartmouth and the DPD is setting the record straight.

Dartmouth Police released the following statement:

“The Dartmouth Police Department has received numerous inquiries associated with a ‘God the Mother’ post currently being shared on various social media platforms.”

“Though we take every complaint seriously, the reports of activity in Dartmouth were never substantiated with anything fact-based.”

“It is our current position that there is no link between the incident that allegedly took place at a local retail store and the solicitation of women for the purposes of human trafficking and/or any other nefarious activity.”

“As one of the alleged incidents claiming a scary encounter was never even reported to us, please remember to ALWAYS be cautious when believing and sharing what people post on the Internet, as it can quickly take on a life of its own.”

Several news outlets across the country have debunked this rumor as false as well. Dartmouth Police even referenced such a story “God the Mother”.

This is not to say that citizens shouldn’t be vigilant. It is always important to know your surroundings and report suspicious activity. Just keep in mind that you can’t believe everything you read on social media.

This happened to me at Garden State Plaza in anew Jersey. I was new to New Jersey and looking for a bible study group with young professionals so I was excited. I actually went to the church. It is Korean based belief. The women sit on one side of the church and men on the other. You have to take off your shoes and wear a vail. After service I went to the Bible study in the basement of the church. They were teaching me about The Mother God. I felt it was too much of a cult so I left. It was about 8pm at night in a quiet neighborhood and I was parked on a dark street. Long story short I got in my car safe and here I am 5yrs later lol. It’s not sex trafficking it’s a cult like religion and they really want to “save” everyone, especially young women, before the world comes to an end.

I also read this in facebook. But I don’t believe this is fact. Cuz it is unproven.
There are so many unproven contents on social media.

It is true that we can’t believe everything we read on social media without experiencing them.
    Rumor is just rumor.
We shouldn’t spread the rumor anyhow.
We must care about what the truth is and what the facts are.

It is dangerous to believe in the rumor and spread it to social media. It can cause serious damage. We need wisdom to find the truth!
