Crews respond to Route 140 after car bursts into flames, remind drivers to move over
Local fire crews extinguished heavy flames after a vehicle caught fire on an area highway.
According to the Freetown Fire Department, D company along with Station 2 on call personnel responded to a car fire on Route 140 north Monday evening.
The blaze occurred after 10:00 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
Freetown FD asks the public to be mindful of emergency vehicles in particular when driving on the highway.
“Routes 140 and 24 are both very hazardous areas of operation for public safety to work. We have implemented the practice of “blocking a lane” with fire apparatus to aid in keeping our crews safe. Please slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles on the highway.”
