A construction company involved in an incident in Fall River where two people were seriously injured, could be facing punishment.

According to Captain Barden Castro of the Fall River Police, at approximately 11:47 a.m. Tuesday, Fall River Police and Fire Departments responded to the 200 block of South Main Street for a reported building collapse.

As police began to investigate, it was determined that loose bricks had fallen from the roof of the building striking two pedestrians below.

A 25-year-old man and a 34-year-old man were both transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The 34-year-old male’s injuries are described as critical, but stable at this time, according to Castro.

Reports state that the 25-year-old man is in stable condition.

Police, Fire, OSHA, and the City of Fall River Building Inspector are investigating.

While contractor Nuno Soto of Josue Construction Inc., has taken full responsibility for the incident, penalties such as fines and citations are possible.

Today, a fence could be seen blocking off the area where the bricks fell.

Evidence of the incident could still be scene outside of the building on Wednesday that is being redone to bring more apartments to the city.
