City of Fall River announces a city wide “Clean Up Competition” with monetary prizes to the winners
After the success of recent citywide clean-ups, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, Mayor Paul Coogan and the City of Fall River have announced a new competition to encourage residents to participate in independent clean-up efforts throughout the city.
The “Clean Up Competition” encourages groups of citizens to team up and beautify a city area of their choosing. Tasks may include trash collection, landscaping, sweeping and approved repairs to private or city property. Workplaces, sports teams, neighborhood associations, community organizations, landscaping companies and groups of friends or family are all invited to participate. Participants are reminded to adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols while doing their independent clean-ups and to post their progress with the hashtag #CleanUpFallRiver.
To enter, groups must send before and after photos of the cleaned area to mayor@fallriverma.org, along with information about the group members, any time before
midnight on Thursday, August 27th.
An independent judge, to be announced at a later date, will determine the first, second and third place winners based on group size, area size, and the change made to the area.
Monetary prizes of $300, $200 and $100 will be given to the winners, who will be announced at the Fall River Drive-In Movie on August 28th.
“We hope that Fall River residents will get competitive and get involved,” said Mayor Coogan. “This is a great opportunity to come together and make Fall River a better place, while still being socially distant. I encourage anyone to participate, no matter how big or small their group or area is.”
You can call the Mayor’s office at 508-324-2600 with any questions.
