Child admitted to hospital due to likely near fatal maltreatment
DCYF is reporting a case of suspected maltreatment concerning a young boy.
A three-year-old male child from Woonsocket was admitted to Hasbro Children’s Hospital on June 5.
According to DCYF, The family had prior DCYF involvement, but was not open to the Department at the time of the child’s injuries.
The Department initiated an investigation, and through this investigation, DCYF has confirmed that the child’s injuries are likely to have been caused by maltreatment.
Pursuant to state law, DCYF notified the Office of the Child Advocate of the report.
Due to confidentiality laws, DCYF is not releasing more information.
