Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a 34-year-old man was found guilty in the Fall River Superior Court of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Domestic Assault and Battery and Intimidation of a Witness.

Jesse Marinaro, of Woonsocket, RI was acquitted of Rape, Indecent Assault and Battery over 14 and Strangulation.

He was sentenced by the Honorable Brian Glenny to a State Prison sentence of 6.5 to 9 years along with a supervised probationary period of 15 years that runs concurrent with the prison sentence. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Canan Yesilcimen and Abbey Barr.

On the evening of March 29, 2025, Marinaro picked up the victim on his motorcycle, who he was in a dating relationship with, from her place of employment at 10:30 pm.  The defendant was angry as the victim had to work beyond her normal shift hours.  As the victim left work with Marinaro, she believed they were travelling back to their home in Woonsocket, RI.  At one point, the defendant began striking the victim in the head with a motorcycle helmet with such force that it became damaged. Later, Marinaro pulled the motorcycle over which gave the victim an opportunity to run to a nearby Wendy’s restaurant to seek assistance from the father of her young child, but he did not answer.  Marinaro then drove the victim to a location in Attleboro near a bridge and then to the back lot of a closed childcare center in Attleboro.  Once at that location, the defendant continued to hit the victim in the head, kicked her in the ribs, buttocks, and vagina with his boots. Yelling during the incident caused two neighbors to call 911.  When police responded to the parking lot, Marinaro pulled the victim into a wooded area and threw her over a fence.  The defendant then fled the area.

The victim emerged from the woods and sought the assistance of police.  The victim was transported to Sturdy Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Attleboro Police set up a perimeter in the area where Marinaro fled but were unable to locate him.  He was later arrested by Providence Police after a high-speed chase.

“I am pleased that the court imposed a significant sentence for the brutal beating inflicted by the defendant over several hours against the victim.  He was arrested in Rhode Island after a wild, high-speed chase.  This clearly demonstrates that the defendant is out of control and a danger to the community.  At the time of this offense, the defendant was also on probation out of Plymouth Superior Court.,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
