Local nonprofit organization, Angels Anonymous, has been supporting families in need since 2016. With nine board members and over 100 volunteer staff, the organization provided food to about 500 families last holiday season. The pantry, located at 231 Weaver street in Fall River MA, accepts food donations year-round. Any non-perishable food items are always accepted, as well as monetary donations, which will be used to buy food from the Greater Boston Food Bank.
The pantry is open for walk-ins year-round, every third Saturday of each month, and every fourth Sunday, 9am-11am.
For the holidays, Angels Anonymous will be accepting food and toy donations. Foods accepted for Christmas include turkey, ham, potatoes, carrots, corn, stuffing mix, etc. All the basic ingredients for the average holiday, in which many people are unable to afford, will be accepted.
Vice President of the organization, Tony Abreu, shared some thoughts relating to the strike of the pandemic and inflation.
“Our numbers tripled when the pandemic first hit… then, they went down a little, and now, with the cost of food, we are doing what we did at the height of the pandemic.”
If anyone would like to register for the Christmas drive, access the application form from the Angels Anonymous’s Facebook page, then print out and write in the requested information. Then, please mail the form to the Weaver street location. Anyone wishing to participate in the Christmas drive-thru with Santa must be registered by November 30th. The drive will be held on December 11th from 9am-12pm, and Santa will be present!
Can’t make it to meet Santa on the 11th? Don’t worry. On December 17th at 9am-11am, stop by the pantry to choose from any gifts and boxes of food that may be left over.
