Amazon hasn’t fired Jessica Rebello, because they can’t

Published

There has been a firestorm both in Fall River and across the country over a picture that spread over social media in what appeared to be two women wearing blackface with the n word in the heading.

The photo led to posts from all over the nation stating that Rebello, who is from Fall River and who posted the picture, should be fired from her workplace at Amazon. There is just one problem.

Rebello doesn’t work there anymore.

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, Amazon has stated that she hasn’t worked at the company since April 2018.

Rebello had several responses to the backlash stating that the word has multiple meanings and that she apologized to anyone she may have offended.

So what’s going on here is a good old case of monkey see monkey do. Sometimes it’s best to be a mindful adult and consider whether your actions may physically hurt or offend others.

I really don’t care if I offend anyone. Yet to meet someone with the hands to put me down. You’re the one offended. I remember when we were told to ignore it and walk away. But apparently that’s only if you’re white and getting harassed for being so. So sick of this race baiting bs. I post stuff like that all the time but my friends laugh at it because they’re not p*****. They’re hard men.

Sorry but using the N word is not race baiting and I wonder if the white hood slips over your eyes as you type and I can tell by your post that you are a small peepee’ed basement dweller and I think you mom has the pizza rolls finished P***Y

Our people really need to stop using it. That helps the message of offense to be clear. It’s in songs, movies and all types of media, used by Black people. When Black people use the term with their non-Black friends, they feel comfortable. It sets the non-Black friends up to feel comfortable. Then they use it outside of the friendship. All people need to stop using the word.

Um, I think there’s pretty much only ONE meaning of the word WHEN YOU’RE IN BLACKFACE.

Then again yall were taught in your homes. Idiotic people. You better watch your back every time you leave your house.
