Accumulating snow, gusty winds expected for eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island

BOSTON – It certainly isn’t forecast to be the biggest storm we have ever seen, but in the coming days accumulating snow is expected for eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island with gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service Boston, an offshore ocean storm will spread precipitation into southeast New England tonight into Monday. Rain will mix with and change to sleet and accumulating snow, especially in interior southeast MA. Winds will gust up to 30-40 mph along the immediate coast.

The forecast:

Tonight
A chance of rain and snow before 7:00 p.m., then a chance of rain between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., then a chance of snow after 9:00 p.m. North wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

Sunday
A chance of snow, mainly after 10:00 a.m. Mostly cloudy. North wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Sunday Night
A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy. North wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.

M.L. King Day
A slight chance of snow before 1pm, then a slight chance of rain between 1pm and 4pm, then a slight chance of snow after 4pm. North wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
