Accumulating snow is expected in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut with ice expected north and west.

According to the National Weather Service Boston, Clouds increase Tuesday with light snow developing late this afternoon into this evening. The light snow comes to an end early Wednesday, but pockets of light freezing rain/drizzle will impact the interior high terrain during the day Wednesday.

Untreated roadways may be slippery tonight into Wednesday.

The forecast:

Today
A slight chance of rain after 4pm, mixing with snow after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 40. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight
Snow, mainly before 3am. Low around 31. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Wednesday
A chance of snow before 9am, then a chance of rain and snow between 9am and 10am, then a chance of rain after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday Night
Rain. Patchy fog. Low around 38. Southwest wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
