A woman who was killed after a pedestrian crash on Friday evening is being remembered.

Norwood Police responded to the area of Pleasant Street and Garfield Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m. for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian who was walking in a crosswalk.

The victim, 80-year-old Ellen Kana of Norwood, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained on scene and Massachusetts State Police accident reconstruction team are investigating.

There are no charges at this time.

Solar glare may have been a factor according to witnesses.

According to an obituary, Kana’s “love of the Catholic faith came first, and therefore She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was kind, humble and generous to a fault and was the best at keeping secrets. She made friends wherever she went, on her walks (a favorite pastime), at the grocery store, out for dinner. She had a particular love of children and would do any silly thing just to get them to laugh even if she didn’t know them.”

Kana has family in several communities including Dighton.

Visiting hours will be held for Kana at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson – Cannon Funeral Home 456 High St. Dedham on Thursday, Nov. 7th from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 8th at noon, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 1pm. Interment will be private.
