Verbal Threat Made by Student Against Somerset Berkely High School

Published

on

Somerset Berkley Regional High School Superintendent Jeffrey Schoonover issued a letter to students and parents yesterday after a threat against the school was reported by students.

The letter, sent yesterday afternoon in conjunction with Somerset Berkley Regional High School Principal Dr. Susan Brelsford, informed readers that school administration was made aware of an alleged threat made by a student against the school. Somerset Police were immediately involved and began an investigation.

Somerset Police determined that while a student did make a threat, they had no access to weapons nor a “credible way to carry out that threat.”

The student has be removed from school and will face criminal charges.

There was additional police presence at the high school this morning. A police officer on site stated they were there because of yesterday’s incident and that there was no threat today.
