Fairhaven Police Department takes armed suspect into custody after 4-hour standoff
FAIRHAVEN — Lt. Kevin Kobza reports that the Fairhaven Police Department took an armed suspect into custody Monday night after an approximately four-hour standoff.
Police received a report around 4:30 p.m. reporting a disturbance at 166 Ebony Street.
Upon arrival at the address, police discovered a suspect, later identified as a 56-year-old Fairhaven man, barricaded inside a camper on the property. Officers determined the suspect was armed with a knife.
Officers negotiated with the suspect for a number of hours. He was peacefully taken into custody around 8:15 p.m. Monday.
Two homes nearby were evacuated so police could maintain a safe perimeter around the property.
Under the Domestic Violence Act of 2014, no further information about this incident can be released by police, including the suspect’s name, booking photo or any information about possible criminal charges.
