COVENTRY, RI – The Coventry Police Department has announced that on July 17, 2024, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging 63-year-old David Ouellette of Coventry, RI, with seven counts of child molestation.

The alleged incidents occurred in the Town of Coventry between May 1, 1998, and September 30, 2002. The Coventry Police Department’s Special Victims Unit led the investigation that resulted in these charges.

David Ouellette was arrested by Coventry Police Detectives later that same day and is currently being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institution. Ouellette is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on August 13, 2024, in Kent County Superior Court.

As a result of this lengthy investigation, the Coventry Police have reason to believe there may be additional victims. These types of crimes often go unreported at the time of the incident; however, that does not preclude them from being reported now, as there is no statute of limitations for crimes of this severity.

If you or someone you know was affected by Ouellette, police urge you to come forward and speak with their Special Victims Unit.
