Tiverton Police make arrest after altercation between adults, players, at Longplex Sports Complex
Police have made an arrest after an incident involving several people at an area sports complex.
According to Sergeant Jessica Anderson, on Saturday at just after 7:30 p.m., the Tiverton Police Department responded to a call of a male party at Longplex Family & Sports Center armed with a firearm.
Officers encountered a large group of patrons present at Longplex for a basketball tournament. It was determined an altercation took place at the end of a basketball game and multiple players were assaulted.
One individual, who was not named, was arrested on one count of disorderly conduct and one count of simple assault.
According to a witness, someone yelled out gun at the time of the incident.
Anderson stated that at this time, there is no indication a firearm was involved in the incident.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
