Bristol County college student in critical condition after bicycle crash
A student at a Bristol County college is fighting for her life after a crash last week.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, and to those who know her, Lauren Rauseo is a Junior at Stonehill College in Easton and was involved in a horrific bicycle accident while in Spain. She suffered severe injuries to her head and body which includes a traumatic brain injury.
“She is in a medically induced coma and in critical (but stable) condition and has a long road of recovery ahead of her. Due to the severity of her current condition, she is unable to be transferred to another hospital that can provide more specialized care. We are hopeful that Lauren’s condition will improve to allow her to be med flighted to a hospital back home in Boston, closer to friends and family.”
Two fundraisers have raised over $120,000 as of this writing for expenses and medical care.
Rauseo has garnered large community support having friends and family from both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She has been described as “a vibrant and compassionate young woman with dreams as wide as the ocean.”
We are all wishing Lauren a full and speedy recovery.
