Police are investigating an act of vandalism which occurred at one of Fall River’s most sacred locations.

Bruce Aldrich, who heads the Marine Corps League, stated that several monuments were vandalized at Veterans Memorial Bicentennial Park including the Iwo Jima monument.

Aldrich told Fall River Reporter that the spray paint was discovered on Friday. A time frame is currently being determined.

Aldrich is currently looking into the best way to get the monuments cleaned up without causing damage to the structures, therefore, he doesn’t want volunteers attempting to clean it themselves until he has all of the information.

Surveillance video is currently being reviewed.

The park has been a frequent target of vandals over the years.

If you have any information on the vandalism, contact Fall River Police at (508) 324-2787.
