Names released of suspect and 44-year-old man dead after stabbing at Fall River residence
A man is dead after a Fall River stabbing.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Fall River Police and paramedics were called to the rooming house at 234 Tripp Street and provided aid to the victim, who was later identified as 44-year-old Joseph Bump. Bump was rushed to Saint Anne’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased just prior to 10:30 p.m. Friday night.
42-year-old Pedro Fernando Orellano Alvarado was arrested on scene and is currently charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. Alvarado is being held in jail over the weekend and will be arraigned in Fall River District Court on Monday morning.
Both the defendant and the victim were residents of the rooming house.
The incident is being investigated by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office and Fall River Police. Assistant District Attorney Daniel Walsh is coordinating the investigation.
