Changes are coming to Fall River’s Lafayette Park and you can be a part of it

A Fall River park will be seeing some changes and you can have a say as to what those changes are.

According to the Department of Community Maintenace, there will be a Public Hearing on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Hearing Room at One Government Center regarding proposed improvements and renovations to Lafayette Park on Mason Street.

The City of Fall River will be submitting an application for a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant through the MA Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to make the improvements.

Parks Director Nancy Smith told Fall River Reporter that there is a survey being put together for the public to “weigh in” on what improvements they might like to see at the park.

“Some of the items that we were considering were renovations to the basketball court, walkways, benches etc. however, these proposed improvements could change based on the information we receive from the survey.”

Anyone having a question concerning any of the proposed improvements may contact the Fall River Park Department. Anyone wishing to express favor or opposition to any of the proposed improvements may do so either in person at the hearing or by letter addressed to the Park Board, 450 Middle Street, Fall River, MA 02724.
