Massachusetts food pantry sees $11,000 catalytic converter stolen from truck, local business pitches in to help

A real estate agency came to the rescue for a Massachusetts food pantry that was grounded due to a thief.

According to the Weymouth Food Pantry, the catalytic converter was stolen off of their truck this week, effectively immobilizing the pantry.

“We cannot find a rental with a liftgate in New England to keep us going, and it is the first of September (think house movers and a big college move in weekend) so rental inventory in general is non-existent. We need help to serve our neighbors this Saturday. Anybody know someone with a 20ft (or larger) box truck with a liftgate who can help? We’ll need it (with a driver or without) from 7:30am to noon this Saturday. Lord knows what this is going to cost to fix, or how long it will take.”

The pantry discovered that the repair would cost $11,000, however, a local business came to their rescue.

Molisse Realty Group offered the pantry the use of their van for Saturday morning to help save the day.

There is no word yet if the suspect in the theft has been identified.
