A Fall River man was sentenced Friday for raping a teenage girl under his care

David Medeiros, 44, was convicted of Rape of Child aggravated By Age, Rape of Child Use of force, and Indecent A&B on a person under 14.

Medeiros was sentenced today to serve 13-14 years in prison, plus an additional three years of probation upon his release.

According to the case tried by Bristol County Assistant District Attorney Melissa Hendrie, Medeiros raped the victim, who has a learning disability, at her residence. Once the victim and her sister told the mother what had happened the night before, the mother took the victim straight to the hospital. The defendant’s saliva was found on the victim and tested by the crime lab. The test came back to Medeiros. Medeiros was also convicted of assaulting the victim at her residence.

Bristol County District Attorney Quinn said: “This defendant raped and sexually assaulted a 13 year old, who is developmentally disabled. This is extremely offensive and predatory conduct. I applaud the victim for persevering through this case during its pendency, which included testifying under difficult circumstances. A substantial state prison sentence is justified.”
