Friends of Fall River man killed in crash organize cleanup, care package giveaway
A friend of a Fall River man killed in a recent car crash has put together two causes in his memory.
Fall River resident Jonathan “Goose” Gosselin was killed in a car crash last week in Tiverton
Brittany Goncalo is looking to honor Gosselin by doing what he loved to do.
“He was a good friend of ours with a HUGE heart! He was always the first to volunteer his time and resources to help others. Whether it was feeding the homeless, cleaning up the city, or helping someone get a bed and try to help them get clean and sober.”
Last year Goncalo, Gosselin, and others came together and cleaned up Battleship Cove. Jonathan made care packages and the group packed up some food, drove around the city and passed it all out.
Goncalo is looking to do that again in his memory.
“I met Jonathan through mutual friends almost 10 years ago. Our friendship revolved mostly around my food recommendations that he always loved mostly, (laughter) but whenever there was volunteer work to be done around the city, he was the first to comment and make sure people who talked about it actually made it happen. Last year on June 14, we did a clean up at Battleship Cove and Jonathan and I, among others, drove around the city where homeless people typically hung out and passed out containers of warm food, water bottles, snacks and care packages that Jonathan had put together himself. He was such a kind hearted person, with a hilarious personality. He will be greatly missed.”
The plan is to meet up at Battleship Cove with some trash bags, clean up a bit and then go around and pass out care packages to those in need.
For those looking to help with donations, an Amazon list has been set up.
Also, Goncalo plans on having donation boxes placed by the end of this week at three businesses that have generously offered their space.
