Fall River sees decrease in daily COVID-19 confirmed cases, but mayor warns numbers could jump
Fall River has seen 1 more confirmed positive case of COVID-19.
According to Mayor Coogan, the City of Fall River has seen 179 total positive cases. 82 individuals had recovered as of Friday.
“Today we only added 1 positive to bring our total to 179 confirmed. Please don’t be surprised if this week the numbers jump because we are supposed to be in the middle of the surge. Fall River is doing well compared to some other Massachusetts cities-Persist!”
Fall River had seen 5 cases on Monday and 8 were seen on Tuesday. 11 confirmed cases were reported on Wednesday with the city’s first fatality. Thursday revealed 17 more cases with 2 more deaths. Due to address changes, Friday’s count decreased the city total by 4. Saturday’s update revealed 2 confirmed cases and 2 removed due to address corrections.
The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts. These individuals are in isolation and quarantine.
Mayor Coogan’s Office continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing. This means keeping a distance of 6 feet between individuals. Continue to wash your hands on a regular basis, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and stay home as much as possible, especially when you are sick. These measures will help to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Massachusetts confirmed COVID-19 cases cross 38,000, 146 more reported dead.
