With speculation over the last several weeks, Jasiel Correia suspended his re-election campaign on Tuesday and current City Administrator Cathy Ann Viveiros has announced her write-in campaign for mayor.
Viveiros made an announcement at noon. Correspondence on the announcement was sent through an Elect Cathy Ann email address.
Viveiros is also set to appear at a neighborhood meeting Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. according to a social media post.
Viveiros, who has run for mayor in the past, has previously stated that she would only begin a formal write-in campaign if Correia dropped out. Tuesday’s move paves the way for Viveiros.
Although Viveiros is announcing her mayoral campaign, Correia’s name, not Viveiros, will still be on the ballot next to Paul Coogan’s.
