A Massachusetts man killed in an afternoon ATV crash is being remembered as authorities investigate.

According to New Hampshire Fish and Game, on Saturday, shortly after 2:00 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Conservation Officers were notified of an ATV accident that occurred on the Rockingham Recreational trail located in Fremont, NH. The operator involved was eventually identified as David Febres, 55, of Dracut, Massachusetts.

Upon arriving at the scene, a Conservation Officer with New Hampshire Fish and Game met with Fremont Police Officers and members of the riding party. Febres was transported from the scene by Fremont Fire Department. Febres was then transported by Boston MedFlight to Elliot Hospital in Manchester New Hampshire via helicopter. Despite life saving measures Febres was pronounced deceased while at the hospital.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Febres was “an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. What was supposed to be a fun filled day with friends turned into a day of sadness. This tragedy is beyond unexpected and Dave’s life ended far too soon. To know Dave was to love Dave. He was selfless, kind and oh so loving.”

The accident is still being investigated at this time. New Hampshire Fish and Game would like to remind all riders to be cautious when operating, and take factors such as operating experience, trail conditions, weather and time of day into consideration.
