A local man in his 20s who died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash late last week is being remembered.
According to New Bedford Police, on Friday night, just before 10:00 p.m., units responded to the intersection of Walnut Street and S. Sixth Street for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle.
The operator of the motor vehicle was not injured. The operator of the motorcycle was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital and subsequently airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital.
Family say that Anthony Navarro died from his injuries.
He was described as a light who was special and had a heart of gold.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been organized to help pay for Anthony’s funeral and for sending him to Guatemala so he can be buried with his grandfather.
While officers were investigating the crash and the area had been taped off, a female, identified as 28-year-old Katrina Kao of Fall River, entered the secured scene several times despite being instructed to leave. Kao continued to walk through the area and refused multiple requests from officers to leave. She also became disorderly and interfered with officers as they were conducting their investigation.
Kao was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and interfering with a police officer/investigation.
No charges have been filed at this time in connection with the motor vehicle collision. The crash remains under investigation.
