Marshfield, MA — According to a release, recently, the Marshfield Police Department Detective Unit, in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit, conducted an investigation into the suspected electronic receipt of child pornography by an individual residing in Marshfield.

As part of the investigation, court-authorized subpoenas were issued to an internet service provider. The information obtained identified the subscriber as 32-year-old Nicholas Miller, residing at the Castle Green Apartment Complex in Marshfield. Investigators subsequently conducted both visual and electronic surveillance, and a court-authorized search warrant was obtained for the residence.

On Monday, members of the Marshfield Police Detective Unit, along with State Police Cyber Crime Detectives, executed the search warrant at the residence. During the search, electronic devices belonging to Miller were seized, and images consistent with child pornography were discovered.

Miller was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Child Pornography. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Station for processing and later transferred to Plymouth District Court for arraignment.

A full forensic examination of the seized electronic devices will be conducted by the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit. Additional charges may be forthcoming pending the outcome of that analysis. Investigators are also working to determine the origin of the images and videos.

Chief Phillip Tavares stated, “The exploitation of children is one of the most serious and disturbing crimes we investigate. I commend the diligent work of our Detectives and our partners in the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit for their commitment to protecting vulnerable victims.”

Chief Tavares added, “We will continue to aggressively pursue individuals who engage in these types of offenses. Our message is clear—if you are involved in the exploitation of children, you will be identified and held accountable.”

This remains an active investigation.
