A Fall River man killed in a weekend incident is being remembered.

According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III, at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Fall River Police received a 911 call to the area of Leonard’s Package Store located at 1331 Pleasant Street for men fighting.

Upon arrival, police located 31-year-old Taiquan Teixeira of Fall River unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.  Teixeira was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased a few hours later.

A good friend of Teixeira told Fall River Reporter that he was very protective, very caring, and would do anything for everyone. “He even protected me quite a bit.”

Another friend who knew him well said he was an excellent friend and man who always had her back and would help out without being asked. “He had the most incredible personality, and people instantly liked him. He had a great sense of humor.”

The homicide is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the Fall River Police Department.
