60-year-old motorcycle rider killed, woman seriously injured, in multi-vehicle crash in Westerly
A man has been killed after a serious crash Saturday evening.
According to Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey, a 60-year-old male motorcycle rider from New Britain, CT who has a summer house in Westerly, died as a result of a multi-vehicle crash.
The crash occurred just after 7:00 p.m. at Shore Road and Langworthy Road.
A female passenger on the motorcycle from Westerly was flown to Rhode Island Hospital in serious condition. The man was transported from the scene to Westerly Hospital and was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a truck appeared to be turning from Shore Road onto Langworthy Road and turned in front of the motorcycle who was traveling south on Shore Road.
The operator of the pickup truck was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.
The accident still remains under investigation, and the Westerly PD accident reconstruction unit was on scene.
