5 Massachusetts nursing homes/rehab centers placed in receivership, employees say they weren’t paid Friday
Employees at 5 Massachusetts nursing homes, including 2 in the Fall River area, say that they have not been paid and the company running the facilities has stopped doing so.
In a letter received by Fall River Reporter through an employee, on Friday, the Suffolk Superior Court granted receivership.
“Please be advised that on October 4, 2024, the Suffolk Superior Court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (the “Court”) entered an Order Granting Motion for Appointment of Receiver in an action styled: Massachusetts SNF 4 LLC, Massachusetts SNF 5 LLC. Massachusetts SNF 6 LLC, Massachusetts SNF 7 LLC, and Massachusetts SNF 8 LLC, Plaintiffs, vs. G5 Opco Lessee, LLC and William J. Segal, Defendants., Case No. 2484CV02434 (the “Action”) appointing Michael F. Flanagan (the “Receiver”) to serve as the receiver for G5 OpCo Lessee LLC (the “Master Tenant”) and the five (5) skilled nursing facilities listed on Exhibit “A” hereto (each a “Facility” and the “Facilities”). The Receiver was appointed at the request of the landlords for the Facilities.
“The Receiver has engaged Mamary, Inc. (the “Manager”) to manage the day-to-day operations of the Facilities during the receivership. Manager’s affiliates are highly respected owners and operators of long-term facilities located throughout New England. You can find more information about the Royal Health Group at www.royalhealthgroup.com.
“The appointment as Receiver should not affect you as an employee. We understand that you may have concerns about the processing of your current paycheck, and we are working quickly to ensure you receive the money owed to you as soon as possible, and in any event, by early next week. Going forward, you will continue to receive paychecks just as you have in the past and should not experience any difficulty in cashing or depositing these checks. Please contact the Facility’s Administrator if you experience any problems with cashing or depositing your paychecks.
“Thank you for your time, understanding, and cooperation during these proceedings.”
Respectfully,
Michael F. Flanagan
An employee told Fall River Reporter that Alpha Healthcare went to court on 9/13 asking for an advance from the state to pay payroll and they were denied.
“This past Friday nobody got paid. Another court hearing was held, and Royal Health Group agreed to manage the buildings for 60 days only. Alpha abandoned their buildings last Thursday at midnight.”
The impacted facilities include:

Carvalho Grove

In response to the recent announcement that Alpha HealthCare has been put into state receivership, Jesse Martin, Executive Vice President of SEIU 1199 New England, the union that represents approximately 120 caregivers at Country Gardens in Swansea and Carvalho Grove in Fall River, issued the following statement:
“Country Gardens and Carvalho Grove nursing home caregivers have experienced ongoing disruption with their payroll, short staffing and shortages of critical supplies. We are working with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office, Department of Health and other state officials to help stabilize Country Gardens and Carvalho Grove to ensure that their residents and workforce are able to continue living and working at these facilities.”
