MELROSE – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Melrose Chief of Police Kevin Faller have confirmed the ongoing investigation into an altercation that occurred yesterday at a residence on Ledge Street in Melrose.

On Friday just after 7:00 p.m. a Ledge Street resident called 911 to report a disturbance. Upon arrival, police located a male, unresponsive, suffering from apparent stab wounds. That man, identified as 47-year-old James Percent of Melrose, was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At some point during the altercation, a 21-year-old man who also lives in the home became involved. Both men suffered stab wounds in the incident. The second man was also hospitalized for his injuries.
