A woman accused of killing her parents has been indicted.

24-year-old Jessica Cavallaro of Bedford was charged on June 6th with murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and illegal possession of a firearm in the alleged shooting of her parents this morning on Washington Street in Bedford.

According to MassLive, Cavallaro was indicted in October, moving her case to superior court.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office stated that at approximately 9:00 a.m. on June 6th, Bedford Police received a call from a Washington Street resident who reported that Cavallaro had allegedly told them that she had shot her parents in a car outside. Upon arrival, police located Cavallaro’s mother, 56-year-old Thelma Tatten, dead inside a car on the lawn of an adjacent Washinton Street home. Cavallaro’s father, 56-year-old Mark Cavallaro, was transported to an area hospital where he later died. The firearm was also recovered.

Jessica Cavallaro was arrested on scene without incident.

According to WHDH, at her arraignment, prosecutors stated that her parents came to pick her up for breakfast. Cavallaro then got in the car, shot and killed them.

Cavallaro was ordered held without bail and her lawyer stated that she suffered from a long-standing mental illness.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Bedford Police Department and State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
