22-month-old Massachusetts boy killed after being struck by delivery truck
A young child has tragically been killed in a pedestrian crash.
According to Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes, a 22-month old boy was struck by an SUV Delivery Truck in the area of 70 Bellingham Street around noon today.
The child suffered severe head trauma and was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital via Cataldo Ambulance and was initially in critical condition.
The boy’s parents were taken to MGH by CPD personnel.
The child later succumbed to his injuries and the accident is now deemed as a fatal.
The operator of the truck remained on scene.
The Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was on scene conducting a follow up and the CISM Team was activated.
Keyes’ thoughts were with the family of the boy.
“Our deepest condolences to the family. Absolutely heartbreaking.”
