Tragedy struck this morning as officials have released the name of a man killed in a multi-vehicle crash.

According to Rhode Island State Police, earlier this morning, at 12:29 a.m., Troopers from both the Wickford and Hope Valley Barracks, as well as members of the Hope Valley, Exeter, and West Greenwich Fire Departments, responded to calls for a crash involving three vehicles on Route 95 North in the Town of Exeter.

The Investigation revealed that a Honda Civic was parked in the breakdown lane of Route 95 North at a point approximately five hundred feet south of Route 165. The Honda’s head lights and hazard lights were activated. The operator of the Honda, identified as Christian Hull, age 20, of Coventry, was standing outside and at the front of his vehicle.

A Chevrolet Silverado was traveling in the first lane of Route 95 North and upon approaching Hull’s location, entered the breakdown lane, consequently striking the rear of the Honda with the front of the Chevrolet. This collision forced the Honda to strike Hull and he was subsequently thrown into the right grassy shoulder. The crash also forced both the Honda and Chevrolet back into the lanes of travel.

A Nissan Frontier approached the scene, was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the Chevrolet.

Hull was pronounced deceased on scene by members of West Greenwich Rescue.

The operator of the Chevrolet was not injured and did not display any signs of impairment.

Heavy fog surrounded the area at the time of the crash.

Troopers from the Reconstruction Unit as well as the Forensic Services Unit also responded.
