2-year-old subject of Department of Children, Youth & Families case reported deceased
Providence, R.I. (August 2, 2023) — The Department of Children, Youth & Families is disclosing the fatality of a two-year-old child.
At the time of the fatality, the child was the subject of a DCYF case.
According to DCYF, the incident occurred on July 28, 2023. Maltreatment did not contribute to this fatality. DCYF has notified the Office of the Child Advocate of this report.
DCYF also disclosed the near fatality of a two-year-old child on the same date.
At the time of the near fatality, the child was the subject of a DCYF case.
Due to confidentiality laws, DCYF did not release additional information.
Rhode Islanders are required by law to report known or suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to DCYF within 24 hours of becoming aware of such abuse/neglect. Please call 1-800-RI-CHILD to report known or suspected cases of child abuse.
