DARTMOUTH, MA – On Friday, at approximately 5:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Chase Road near Lucy Little Road, after receiving numerous calls regarding a two vehicle head-on crash involving a 2010 Ford Escape and a 2015 Nissan Altima.

As a result of the extensive damage that the Nissan sustained, the driver and a passenger had to be extricated by fire department personnel. Subsequent to this, they were both transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

During the course of the investigation that followed, the operator of the Ford, identified as 19-year-old Jacob Thomas, of Chase Road, Dartmouth, was placed under arrest and charged with operating under the influence of drugs, having an open container of marijuana in a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to stay within marked lanes.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Dartmouth Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
