Woman seriously injured in Tuesday evening crash at Swansea, Rehoboth line
A woman was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash Tuesday night.
According to Rehoboth Sgt. James Casey, at approximately 9:49 p.m., the Rehoboth Police Department responded to a one car motor vehicle crash on Hornbine Road in Rehoboth. Initially, the crash was reported to be in Swansea on Hornbine Road. When Officers arrived, it was determined that the crash occurred in front of 260 Hornbine Road in Rehoboth.
Casey stated that officers from the Swansea Police Department were already on scene tending to the female operator upon arrival.
Members of the Swansea Fire and Ambulance arrived shortly after.
The investigation determined that the vehicle was traveling north on Hornbine Road from Swansea into Rehoboth. Just after crossing the town line, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree. The vehicle began to spin and turn on its roof when it collided with a second tree.
The female operator was the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to police, and needed to be extricated from the vehicle.
The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with what appeared to be serious non-life-threatening injuries.
