Woman killed in New Year’s Eve crash on Route 6 in Dartmouth
DARTMOUTH, MA – On Thursday, December 31, 2020 at approximately 9:55 p.m., Dartmouth Police, along with other emergency personnel, responded to the area of 597 State Road, after receiving several calls that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
According to Dartmouth Police, upon arrival, officers confirmed that a female pedestrian, identified as Wendy Tolley, 56, of New Bedford, had been struck by a 2006 Toyota Prius, being operated by a 24-year-old Dartmouth woman.
Though emergency care was rendered to Tolley, she died as a result of the injuries she incurred.
In conjunction with the subsequent investigation, a part of State Road was closed for several hours.
The crash is currently under investigation by members of the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit of Bristol County, Dartmouth Police Department Investigative Services Division, and the Dartmouth Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
An arrest has currently not been made in the crash.
