A woman had a scary experience this week after finding out she had been driving to work with a half-naked man in her vehicle.

According to Easton Police Chief Keith Boone., at approximately 12:00 a.m. on Monday, Easton Officers were dispatched to 2 Belmont Street after a 911 caller reported that she had discovered a naked male in the back seat of her vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the victim and learned that she had traveled from her Providence, Rhode Island home to the Town of Easton in her Chevrolet Tahoe. Upon entering the parking lot located at 2 Belmont Street, she observed a partially naked male laying on the floor in rear of her vehicle.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the victim had started her vehicle at her Providence home approximately one hour earlier and returned inside the home for a short period of time. It was during that time that the suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Jose Osorio of Providence, apparently entered the vehicle and fell asleep on the rear seat floor. The victim told officers that she had been listening to a podcast during her travel time to Easton and it wasn’t until she arrived at her place of employment that she discovered Osorio in her vehicle. The victim also told Officers that she did not know Osorio and had never seen him before.

Officers located Osorio in the rear of the vehicle sleeping. He was partially clothed, with a pair of shorts around one leg and a shirt wrapped around one arm, leaving the rest of his body uncovered. It was apparent to the Officers that Osorio was extremely intoxicated and through an interpreter service, later learned that he had consumed a large amount of alcohol and marijuana earlier in the evening in Providence. At some point during his intoxicated state, Osorio entered the unlocked vehicle and fell asleep. While speaking with the victim, she told Officers that Osorio had not threatened her in any way, and she had not been injured.

Officer Brian Rooney arrested Osorio without incident and transported him back to police headquarters for booking. Osorio has been charged with breaking & entering into a vehicle in the nighttime. Osorio also had an outstanding warrant from Cranston, Rhode Island for a prior breaking & entering.

Following processing, Osorio was transported to Taunton District Court for arraignment.
