Taunton woman arrested in fatal Middleboro crash released without bail, but conditions
A woman who is charged in a fatal crash from Tuesday has been released, with conditions.
Middleboro public safety dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls at about 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, reporting a motor vehicle crash on Wareham Street (Route 28) near the South Middleboro Fire Station.
Upon arrival, Middleboro officers found two vehicles, a white 2010 Chrysler 300 and a white 2015 Hyundai Sonata, damaged in the middle of the road. First responders treated the driver of the Sonata at the scene. The driver was then transported to Tobey Hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
During an initial investigation Middleboro Police determined that the cars collided head-on on the wet roadway. Middleboro Police at the scene arrested the driver of the Chrysler, determined to be 21-year-old Tianna Hutchinson, of Taunton, without incident. She was transported to the Middleboro police station for booking.
Hutchinson was charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide-Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of their next-of-kin. However, friends and family have described her as a great mom and friend who was making constant trips to Boston to visit one of her sick children.
According to 7 News Boston, at Hutchinson’s arraignment, the judge released her on several conditions including her having to remain home at all times except for going to work, wearing a GPS/alcohol-monitoring device, and refraining from driving.
Hutchinson is scheduled back in court in February.
