With warm days ahead, Fall River area ice cream stands set to open

Ice cream stands in the Fall River area have announced their openings for the season, a sure sign of optimism that warmer weather is on its way. After all Punxsutawney Phil said so right?

If you are looking for a cone, a sundae, or even a banana split, there will be several options to choose from.

Somerset Creamery opens their Route 6 and County Street locations on March 13th and are looking to hire.

Their spring hours will be Sunday-Friday 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

March 20th will be the opening day for the Ice Cream Barn on Locust Street in Swansea.

Lickety Splits on Route 6 in Westport is 99% sure they won’t be open until April. Hopefully the first week. Starting out Wednesday through Sunday.

Helger’s Ice Cream Shoppe on Main Road in Tiverton, now under Heather Helger Fragata, plans to open April 12th or 13th.

Eskimo King on Market Street in Swansea plans to open on May 1st.

Handy Hill Creamery on Hix Bridge Road in Westport will open on Memorial Day weekend.

Wood’s Ice Cream on Adamsville Road in Westport stated they will open at the end of May.

Simcock Farm on Marvel Street in Swansea typically opens in late May.

Nonno’s Ice Cream Shoppe in Fall River on Seabury Street has sadly closed and will not be opening for the season.
