With strong winds in below zero temps, Bristol County family displaced after tree falls on home
A family has been displaced after a tree damaged a home in Bristol County as winds whipped in below zero temperatures.
According to Fire Chief Shawn Simmons, the Norton Fire Department responded to reports of a tree damaging a home on Friday night.
Norton firefighters responded at about 9 p.m. to a call of a tree falling into a home on Evergreen Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found that a tree had fallen into the roof of a Cape-style home.
The home sustained moderate damage. Three residents and a pet inside the home were not injured.
Norton’s building inspector advised the residents to relocate. The American Red Cross has been notified, and will supply support services if needed. The home’s insurer has been contacted to begin the board-up process.
