A man playing a State Lottery game was in for the shock of his life when he thought he had won just a few grand and ended up a multi-millionaire.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Enrique Frias Mejia of Aurora, Colorado has won the third and final $4 million grand prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “4,000,000 Platinum Jackpot” instant ticket game.

Frias Mejia chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $2,600,000 (before taxes). He plans to buy a house, invest, and help his family with the winnings.

Originally thinking he had won a $4,000 prize, Frias Mejia learned it was actually a $4,000,000 grand prize when sitting down to discuss payment options with a Massachusetts Lottery employee.

He purchased his winning ticket at Great Harbor Market, 199 Upper Main St. in Edgartown. The store will receive a $40,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
