Local social media influencer arrested and charged with dozens of counts of Reckless Driving, Eluding Law Enforcement, Street Racing
The Rhode Island State Police today announced the arrest of a southern New England social media influencer.
According to State Police, on various social media accounts, 28-year-old Ahmed T. Al Gburi of East Providence has used the handle “blackhornet1” and posted numerous videos of himself traveling through Rhode Island and neighboring states on his motorcycle, driving recklessly, and sometimes at speeds in excess of 100 mph.
“Mr. Al Gburi has been terrorizing our highways for months, glorifying reckless driving and broadcasting his exploits on social media,” said Colonel Darnell S. Weaver, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety. “I want to applaud the Troopers who have worked so diligently to identify and apprehend this man.”
Following an extensive investigation, a warrant was issued for his arrest and a search warrant was issued for his residence.
Al Gburi has been charged with:
- Reckless Driving (29 Counts),
- Eluding Law Enforcement in a High-Speed Pursuit (3 Counts)
- Street Racing (3 Counts)
- Large Capacity Feeding Devices Prohibited (4 Counts).
Al Gburi was arraigned on Thursday in 3rd District Court. He was released on bail and is on home confinement until a hearing scheduled for next week.
