A young Fall River boy who was dealt a difficult hand from birth and had garnered the love of many city residents has passed away.

According to an obituary, 5-year-old Zayvion King Baker passed away Friday at Boston Children’s Hospital while awaiting a heart transplant.

Affectionately called King, Zayvion was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. His health had been declining since birth.

According to the CDC, Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) “is a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. As the baby develops during pregnancy, the left side of the heart does not form correctly.”

King “was a very brave and strong little boy who adored Paw Patrol, enjoyed watching noodle mukbangs on YouTube,” and taught himself how to eat with chopsticks. He loved scary movies and all cars.

A GoFundMe fundraiser states that King and his mother Tashia had been living at Children’s Hospital for four months, where he received constant care and multiple IV meds. Tashia also has a 12-year-old son Kason who had recently joined his brother and mother at the hospital. Tashia kept her family together under difficult circumstances.

King was born on Valentine’s Day, just missing his 6th birthday.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.
