Wet and windy weather forecast this weekend across New England
Some wet and windy weather is set to make its way into the area to start the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, an early-season nor’easter storm will bring heavy rainfall and strong easterly winds along the coast. The heaviest rain is expected to be across Southern New England.
Widespread rainfall totals of 1-3 inches are possible throughout. Small streams and creeks could overflow their banks, and isolated flash flooding cannot be ruled out in areas that experience high rainfall rates.
The storm is expected to begin Friday night with rain likely, in the early morning hours of Saturday. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low in the lower 40s. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
During the day on Saturday we will see rain with thunderstorms also possible after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall with a high in the mid 50s. Breezy, with an east wind 16 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
Saturday night rain is likely before 8pm, then a chance of showers, mainly between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low in the upper 40s. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
