Westport man rushed to the hospital after tree fell on him while working on his property
It appears that a local man is lucky to be alive after a tree fell on him on Thursday.
Westport Firefighter/Paramedics responded to a local farm where an individual doing some tree work was injured when a large tree came down onto the tractor that he was sitting on.
The individual was transported by Westport Fire to St. Lukes Trauma Center, with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both frontline ambulances were out on other calls at the time. The Deputy Chief and Lt. Greene responded in the reserve ambulance, while Rescue 1 responded directly to the scene from St. Annes in Fall River. Off-duty FF/Medic Ward responded with Engine 4 as a precaution in the event additional equipment was required.
WFD commented that the incident was an extremely close call for the victim and wished him a speedy recovery.
