A Westport man was arrested Thursday after several stolen items were brought to Fall River.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Westport Police executed a search warrant along with the Fall River Police Major Crimes Division at 138 Briggs Road in Westport. Earlier in the day investigators discovered several stolen items had been taken to a Fall River Pawn Shop. As a result of those stolen items, Westport Detective Robert Rebello obtained a search warrant to look for additional stolen items at the Westport address.

According to Westport Detective Jeff Majewski, the investigation began after the theft of several thousand dollars in fishing rods and reels along with thousands of dollars in stolen construction tools from an Amory Pettey Road address. The theft occurred during the past two weeks.

During the investigation, Tobias Araujo, 58, of 138 Briggs Road became one of the suspects in the investigation. Araujo was located at the Briggs Road address during the search warrant. Araujo spoke with investigators and other additional stolen items were located inside the residence. Araujo also identified a second individual and police are continuing their investigation into that possible suspect. During the search, investigators located identification cards and membership patches from the Fall River Sidewinders Outlaw Motorcycle Club.

Araujo was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property, possession of ammunition without a Firearms Identification Card, and possession of a dangerous weapon.

This incident is still under investigation.
