Weather a factor as crews responded to rollover crash on Route 140

Officials say weather contributed to a rollover crash on Thursday evening during torrential rain

Lakeville Firefighters responded to Route 140 north (mile marker 14) for a rollover crash just before 9:30 p.m. last night.

The initial report indicated that one occupant was trapped in the vehicle.

Firefighters arrived to find a car on its roof and both occupants had self-extricated. The two occupants were minors and were sheltered from the elements until the arrival of their guardians.

After a medical evaluation, the two occupants were released to their parents.

The Lakeville Fire Department stated that the weather was an obvious factor in the accident.

Engine 1 remained on the scene in a blocking position until all responders had cleared the scene and the car had been recovered. A blocking position is intended to protect the scene responders from injury or death due to secondary crashes.

LFD asks the public to remember to move over and slow down when approaching a crash scene.
