Wareham Department of Natural Resources releases statement on reported shark sighting
If you think there have only been shark sightings at the eastern edge of Cape Cod, think again.
According to the Wareham Department of Natural Resources, they have received a report of a potential Great White Shark sighting on Sunday September 16th. It is reported that the shark was estimated to be up to 12’ in length. The last known reported location was between Stony Point Dike and Wings Neck, in the old Cape Cod Canal cut of Bourne.
No beach closures in Wareham are in place at this time.
The Wareham Department of Natural Resources is also advising to be aware that ocean sunfish (Mola Mola) are starting to make an appearance for the season and have a very large dorsal fin that is often visible above the water surface.
